A little about the Maldives

Maldives is a country in the south Asia. It is the southwest of Srin Lanka and India, about 750 kilometers from the Asian continent’s mainland.

Because of the geographical position of the equator, the Maldives has a warm and tropical climate.
The pure white sand under the clear water is another fact about the Maldives. It doesn’t just look attractive, it was actually made from coral.
Coraline beaches makes up only 5% of the world’s beaches with most beach sand being made of quartz.
Maldives is known for its white sandy beaches, pristine turquoise waters and unique underwater marine life.

Maldives is largely flat and has no land features such as hills or river, but some island have dunes such as the sound in Hithadoo Island and marshes, such as those found in the Fuvahmulah island of Gnaviyani Atoll. The Maldives is known for varieties of marine life, but the king of the waves here is the whale shark. The largest fish in the ocean whale shark can grow up to 20ft long, but don’t need to fear a “jaws” type scenerio as they live off a diet of plankton.

 

The Maldives is a dream holiday destination with it’s amazing clear waters, gorgeous weather and overwater cabin on stilts. The Maldives is a relatively new tourist destination, despite being around for a few thousand years.
The Maldives is placed in the second safety category by major travel advisory, which means that it’s safe but you should exercise increased caution.

 

Cost of vacation to Maldives can vary depending on the type of trip, length of stay, and other factors. For example, a week-long trip for a couple can cost about $5,000 and $10,000 which includes airfare, accommodation, meals and transportation.

One thing you should know about Maldives is the weekend is on Fridays and Saturdays, which you might have experienced if you visit an Islamic country. This won’t affect your stay if you’re at a resort, but factor this in, if you’re planning to visit a local island as services may be reduced.
